Aces Set Wins Record with Second-Straight Walk-Off

September 3, 2012 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release

RENO, Nev.- A.J. Pollock hit a walk-off home run in the top of the 10th inning Sunday night, lifting Reno to a 5-4 victory over Tucson, as the Aces set a franchise record for wins in a single season.

Reno jumped-out to a quick 4-0 lead, but the Padres battled back, scoring three in the fourth and one more in the sixth to tie the score. The game stayed that way until the 10th, when Pollock-who ended Saturday's game with a walk-off base on balls-deposited a Ross Ohlendorf offering deep over the wall in left for the game-winner.

With the victory, Reno moves to 80-63-setting a club record for wins in a single season. The Aces will finish 2012 with the second-most victories in Arizona Diamondbacks Triple-A history.

Jensen Lewis (7-2) earned the win out of the Aces bullpen after working a scoreless 10th. Starter Brett Tomko allowed just three runs over 5.0 innings before four Reno relievers combined to hold the Padres to just a run over the game's final 5.0 frames.

The loss fell to Ohlendorf (1-1), whose only blemish was Pollock's homer after 6.0-consecutive shutout frames.

Pollock, Adam Eaton, Brent Clevlen and Ryan Budde registered two hits apiece for the Aces Sunday.

The 2012 regular season comes to a close on Monday afternoon at Aces Ballpark. RHP Joe Martinez (10-11, 5.58 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the Padres will counter with RHP Thad Weber (1-0, 6.35 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT, and it'll be Fan Appreciation Day and another Om-Nom-Nomday presented by KTVN Channel 2 News, featuring $1 nachos.

Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
