Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

For the third time in four days, heavy rains have wreaked havoc on a game between the Albuquerque Isotopes and Tucson Sidewinders as Tuesday's series finale at Tucson Electric Park has been postponed because of rain and wet field conditions. Since this is the final scheduled meeting between the ‘Topes and Sidewinders, the game will not be made up.

As it did on Saturday when the first game of the series was postponed, a heavy rain began in the mid-afternoon and by the time it had even begun to subside, there were large puddles on the outfield warning track and behind the plate, leaving the field unplayable. Rain impacted Monday's game as well, forcing an hour and 20 minute delay in the middle of the sixth inning.

The Isotopes will rest up tonight and return home tomorrow for a big eight-game homestand that begins with a pivotal series against the Salt Lake Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Right-hander Nic Ungs (3-3, 4.92) will start for Albuquerque against Major League veteran Ervin Santana (0-1, 4.73), who was just recently optioned to the Bees after spending the majority of the season with the Angels.

The ‘Topes' upcoming homestand is also big promotionally, featuring back-to-back fireworks shows as part of Back-To-School Weekend; glow stick, key chain, and three-ring binder giveaways; and the return of 50-cent Hot Dog Night! Tickets can be purchased at Isotopes Park or any Ticketmaster outlet, www.ticketmaster.com, or Ticketmaster by phone 505-883-7800.
