TODAY'S OPPONENT:

The Tacoma Rainiers are the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. Last season, the Rainiers finished second in the Pacific North with a record of 74-70.

VS. TACOMA:

The Rainiers won three of four games last season at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma. The Rainers won the first three games with the Hawks taking the finale. The Tacoma leads all-time series 28-27.

TODAY'S GAME:

This is game 108 of the season, the finale of 4 meetings between Oklahoma and Tacoma this season.

LAST GAME:

The Rainiers built a 6-1 lead as they hung on to defeat the RedHawks 6-5 yesterday. The Rainiers scored two runs on three hits to break a tie and take a 3-1 lead in the second inning. Three runs on four hits in the top of the sixth gave the Rainiers a 6-1 lead. The RedHawks tried to rally, making the score 6-4 in the seventh on Guillermo Quiroz's 3-run homer. The Hawks added another run in the eighth to pull within a run at 6-5. Starter Chris Baker took the loss, allowing six runs on nine hits in 5.1 innings.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Eric Hurley

makes his seventh start of the season for the RedHawks. He won his start Thursday against Portland, allowing two runs on two hits in five innings. Hurley hasn't faced the Rainiers in his career. Jorge Campillo will go to the mound for the Rainiers. Campillo hasn't faced the RedHawks in his career.

HULETT ENJOYS JULY: Tug Hulett

is hitting .340 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 25 games in July after going 1-for-5 yesterday. This after hitting just .190 in 28 games during June. Hulett has at least one hit in 26 of his last 29 games, and has seen his average go from .238 to .273 during that time.

STEADY FREDDY: Freddy Guzman

brings a 7-game hitting streak into tonight after going 1-for-5 yesterday. His hit yesterday was his 100th of the season. Guzman has reached base safely in 11 of his last 12 games.

VICTOR AT THE PLATE: Victor Diaz

is hitting .321 (17-53) with three homers and 17 RBIs over the last 13 games. Diaz has reached base safely at least once in seven of the last eight games.

LOOKING FOR SIX:

After making it through the sixth inning in 11 of 12 starts July 12-24, the starters haven't made it through the sixth in six straight games coming into tonight.

WINNING MONTH?:

With a win tonight, the RedHawks will clinch their second winning month of the season, finishing July 14-13. The Hawks were 12-12 in April, 11-18 in May and 18-10 in June.

RARE CLOSE GAME:

Last night was the first time in 16 games the RedHawks played a one-run game, dating back to a 9-8 win July 13 against Round Rock. The RedHawks are 9-7 in their last 16 games. During that span, they haven't played many close games. The Hawks have been outscored 40-23 by their oppenents in their last seven losses. The RedHawks have outscored their oppnents 64-16 in their last nine wins, with at least 10 hits in each win.

POWER OUTAGE:

Quiroz's homer yesterday was the first for the RedHawks in this series after the Hawks hit nine in four games against Portland. RedHawk hitters aren't alone in this series as the Rainiers are yet to hit a homer through three games.

LEAGUE LEADERS: Mike Wood

leads the PCL with a 3.21 ERA. Freddy Guzman leads the league with 38 stolen bases. Botts leads the PCL with a .435 on-base percentage, he's tied for second with 35 doubles, tied for fourth with 52 extra-base hits and seventh with a .320 batting average.

DOT-DOT-DOT:

The RedHawks are 7-7 on Tuesday this season, and 10-15 in the final game of a series...the Hawks have allowed the opposing team to score first in seven consecutive games...the bullpen has allowed only one earned run over the last 13.2 innings with 11 strikeouts...Nate Gold's next hit will be his 100th of the season.
