
Fresno Frustrates 'Birds to Earn Split

Memphis, Tenn. - Fresno rallied for four runs to salvage a series split with Memphis behind a 5-1 win Tuesday night at AutoZone Park.
Justin Leone put the Grizzlies on top in the sixth inning with a mammoth three-run shot. Before the inning was over Fresno had tacked on another run and led 5-1. William Bergolla led the Grizz with three hits and also knocked in a run with a double in the fifth to tie the game. Nick Stavinoha produced the Redbirds lone run with a solo home run in the second inning.
Chris Begg was sharp in 6.2 innings of work for Fresno. The right-hander allowed one run on seven hits with three strikeouts to earn his eighth win. Memphis starter Randy Keisler gave up five runs, four earned, on 11 hits over seven innings in the loss.
The Redbirds went 4-4 on the homestand and will travel to Tacoma tomorrow. Former Redbird Tomo Ohka will be on the mound for the Rainiers with Memphis sending Blake Hawksworth to the hill. Game time is slated for 9:05 p.m. CST at Cheney Stadium.
