Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs and Augusta GreenJackets played three innings of scoreless ball on Friday night before the game was suspended due to rain after the bottom of the third was complete. The RiverDogs and GreenJackets will pick up the ballgame at the top of the fourth inning tomorrow and then play a scheduled seven-inning game on Saturday night with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05pm.
Domingo Acevedo (1-0, 2.60) was sharp through his interrupted outing, logging three innings of scoreless ball while striking out four Augusta batters and touching as high as 98 mph with his fastball. After retiring the first eight batters of the ballgame, the Yankees' No. 5 prospect according to Baseball America yielded a base hit on a ground ball from GreenJackets third baseman Manuel Geraldo that squeaked through the right side of the infield.
The RiverDogs were held hitless through three innings facing Augusta left-hander Grant Watson.
Upcoming
The Charleston RiverDogs will pick up the suspended game in the top of the 4th inning on Saturday against the Augusta GreenJackets and play out the rest of the nine inning ballgame starting at 6:05pm. It's another "Saturday Live at The Joe" featuring a postgame 1,000 t-shirt toss extravaganza AND postgame fireworks presented by Home Telecom pushed back from Friday night's contest.
