SALISBURY, MD - The Shorebirds scored a season-high 10 runs in a drubbing of Kannapolis Friday night at Intimidators Stadium. D.J. Stewart scored four runs and reached base a Shorebirds-season-high five times in the 10-4 victory to even the four game weekend series.

Delmarva got on the board with three runs in the second inning. Ryan Mountcastle and Cedric Mullins both drove in runners on RBI singles and Yermin Mercedes stole home when Mountcastle stole second to give the 'Birds an early edge.

Mercedes continued his torrid stretch at the plate with a 2-run homer to left in the third inning and Delmarva was only getting started.

DJ Stewart singled his way on base and scored on a wild pitch in the fifth inning to put Delmarva up a half dozen.

Reid Love earned the win in his first start of the season, giving up just one run on three hits in 5.1 innings. Love struck out six and walked two.

The Shorebirds plated four more runs in an ugly seventh inning. The score was 6-1 after Kannapolis got a run on a wild pitch in the sixth. A balk and a passed ball accounted for two of the seventh inning runs for Delmarva. The other two came across on Mercedes' double to left field and Alejandro Juvier's single to center. Juvier got his first hit with a runner in scoring position this season to pad the Shorebirds' lead.

Kannapolis scored three runs, all on bases loaded walks in the eighth inning. All three runs were charged to Christian Turnipseed.
