Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

WICHITA, Kan. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats signed left-handed reliever Boomer Potts prior to Wednesday night's series finale against the Wingnuts. To make room for him on the roster, the club placed right-handed starting pitcher Will Krout on the disabled list retroactive to June 18.

Potts comes from the Fort Worth Cats in the United League, where he was 0-2 with a 5.54 ERA and five saves in 12 appearances this season. In 13 innings, Potts struck out 16 and walked six.

Boomer was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2008 and pitched for four seasons in the organization, reaching Double-A. In 158 career appearances - all but one out of the bullpen - Potts has a 14-10 record and a 4.06 ERA. He has struck out one batter per inning in his career. Potts pitched collegiately at the University of Central Missouri.

The series finale is tonight at 7:05 p.m. and the RailCats will return home to start an 11-game homestand on Thursday at 7:10 against St. Paul at U. S. Steel Yard.
