Gary, Ind.--The Gary SouthShore RailCats Professional Baseball announced today that pitcher Jeremy Schmidt has been placed on waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.
Schmidt, who was signed on June 2nd after being released by the Cincinnati Reds, appeared in three games for the RailCats. He compiled a 1-1 record, allowing nine runs in five innings of work.
The RailCats roster is currently at 21 players, one below the Northern League limit.
The RailCats begin a three game series at Kansas City tonight at 7:05 p.m.
