
Goldeyes win 9-0 over Cracker-Cats

The Edmonton Cracker-Cats and the Winnipeg Goldeyes kicked off a 3 game weekend series at TELUS Field Friday night with the Goldeyes coming up on the winning end of a 9-0 score.
Goldeye center fielder Fehland Len Tini led the offensive juggernaut going for 5 for 5 with 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored. The Goldeyes sent 8 batters to the plate in the 2nd inning scoring 4 runs on 3 hits, and taking advantage of an Ashley Freeman throwing error that opened the gate for 3 unearned in the inning. Edmonton starter Geoff White , 1-1, went 7 2/3 innings, allowing al 8 runs on 15 hits. Brad Cherry retired the last 4 batters in relief.
Winnipeg left hander Glen Bott 2-22, scattered 8 hits throwing an 8 inning shutout with 4 strikeouts to record the win. Bott retired 10 straight batters thru the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings.
Both Clubs now have records of 11and 9. On Saturday night the pitching match up features two right handers, Brett Lawson, 3-0, for the "Cats, and Josh Beshears, 3-0, for the Goldeyes. Game time is 7:05 PM at TELUS Field.
Saturday is also Ladies Night at Telus Field which means free admission for all our female Cracker-Cat fans so come and enjoy some baseball under the lights in the beautiful river valley.
