RailCats Acquire Fronk

GARY, IN - The Gary SouthShore RailCats acquired INF Reid Fronk from the El Paso Diablos in exchange for cash on Wednesday. Fronk was placed on the inactive list after his acquisition.

Fronk is in his second year of independent baseball after five-year run in the Tampa Bay Rays organization. He split the 2012 season with the El Paso Diablos and Kansas City T-Bones and has been on the inactive list with the Diablos for the entire 2013 season.

In total in 2012, he hit .284 with seven home runs and drove in 51. Reid began the season with Kansas City and was sent to El Paso in the middle of June.

Fronk seventh round draft pick of the Rays in 2007 out of the University of North Carolina. In five years with the Rays he reached double-A Montgomery in 2011 where he appeared in 57 games and hit .203 with three home runs.

The left-handed hitter has played the majority of his career in right field and has hit 40 home runs in his six-year professional career.

The RailCats complete their six-game road trip with a rubber match with the Sioux City Explorers tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Lewis and Clark Park. The radio broadcast begins at 7:00 p.m. on 89.1 FM The Lakeshore and RailCatsBaseball.com.
