Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (2-13) look to turn away the Kalamazoo Growlers (6-9) tonight at 7:05pm in front of the cranberry crazies at historic Witter Field. Hoping to rebound from last night's loss to the Growlers, the Rafters are ready to get back out there and get back to even on this home stand.

The starter tonight for the Rafters will be Texas A&M right handed pitcher Jason Freeman, who will be making his first start of the season for the Rafters. Freeman is coming off of a very impressive junior season with the Aggies, as he posted a 3.86 era in twelve appearances and had an amazing walk to strikeout ratio, with only two walks to fourteen strikeouts. This is not Freeman's first go around in summer collegiate baseball however, as last summer he played with the Brazos Valley Bombers of the Texas Collegiate League.

The Growlers will send out Ohio State right handed hurler Jacob Post (1-1) tonight to face the new look Rafters lineup. Post did not fare so well his last time out as he gave up seven earned runs in just four innings of work in a loss against the Green Bay Bullfrogs. The Rafters hitters will try and keep the hit parade going tonight as last night they posted ten hits against the Growlers pitching staff. Clark Eagan had three of those hits in his debut game for the Rafters, including an RBI double off of the wall in the eighth inning. Keelin Rasch also fared well against the Growlers pitchers by going three for four against them last night with a ringing double in the sixth inning.

The gates will open at 6:05pm tonight as it is Fey Printing "Turn Back the Clock" night here at Witter Field. The Rafters will be wearing old school Twins style uniforms which will then be available in a silent auction after the game.
