Kenosha Kingfish News Release
The Kingfish will host the first doubleheader in team history tonight as they take on the Wisconsin Woodchucks at historic Simmons Field. Yesterday's game was postponed in the top of the fourth inning due to rain. The game will pick up at the exact point it left off, with one out and Woodchucks on first and second. The score sits at: Wisconsin 5, Kenosha 0. Though the Kingfish bats failed to muster an early run, the team appears primed to make a comeback when the first pitch is dealt at 5:00pm.
The second half of the doubleheader will begin exactly 30 minutes following the completion of the first game in its entirety. The second contest however will last just seven innings (barring the need for extra innings). The probable pitcher for the Kingfish in the latter affair is Trevor Haas. Haas, a 6'2" right-hander from Valparaiso, has enjoyed success in his time in Kenosha. He put together arguably the best start of any Kingfish pitcher this season on May 30th against Green Bay. He led the team to a blowout 11-0 victory while producing a line of 7 IP, 5 K, 3 H, 0 R.
The Kingfish also have numerous batters looking to stay hot and build on the team's recent 12-3 drumming of Kalamazoo. OF Caleb Howell, who finished third in all of NCAA Division I in batting average at Eastern Illinois this spring, has reached base safely in 11 straight games for Kenosha. 1B/OF Pat Porter, tied for the Northwoods League lead in triples, has collected multiple RBI in three consecutive games. 2B Chris Godinez, a sophomore hailing from Bradley, is in the midst of an impressive six game hit streak.
Fans in attendance for the games this evening will enjoy "Goldfish Night" at historic Simmons Field. The first 100 fans to enter the park will receive a voucher for a free goldfish to be redeemed in the Team Store upon exit. Goldfish themes will be present with entrees at concession stands as well as with promotions throughout the park.
Following tonight's games, the Kingfish will pack their bags for a six game road trip. King Elvis' crew will visit the Lakeshore Chinooks, St. Cloud Rox and Mankato Moondogs. The team returns home on Wednesday, May 18th for a six game home stand of their own, with the first set against those same Chinooks. The 18th features "Halloween in June" presented by Racine Factory of Fear. Fans 12 and under will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat on the field after the game, and all fans are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes. "Smith and Forge Wrestling Night will take place on the 19th." Among other promotions, a special appearance will be made by WWE Hall of Famer "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan.
The Kingfish office is located at 7817 Sheridan Road and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. For more information on 7-game packs, season or group tickets, please log on to kingfishbaseball.com or call 262.653.0900 .
