Eau Claire Bests Duluth in Pitchers Duel
June 11, 2014 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Duluth Huskies News Release
(Duluth, MN) Last night's extra inning affair lasted nearly five hours; that time was nearly cut in half tonight at Wade Stadium thanks to solid pitching and defense from both teams. Throwback night pitted the Duluth Dukes against the Eau Claire Bears, and in the end the Dukes offense fell just short of the 9th inning comeback bid and fell to the Bears, 2-1.
Riley Sanderson was solid in his third start of the year, going through 6 2/3 innings and giving up two runs on seven hits. Kevin Folman finished the impressive outing with 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. The offense had a hard time figuring out Eau Claire pitcher Andy Davis, as the local product out of St. Scholastica went seven full and allowed only four hits.
Tomorrow is the start of a new series against the Alexandria Blue Anchors, with the first pitch set for 6:35pm.
