Green Bay Rockers News Release

Green Bay, Wis. - The Green Bay Bullfrogs and La Crosse Loggers met on Wednesday night for the second game of their two-game series at Joannes Stadium. After scoring a run in the first inning, the Loggers would not relinquish the lead the rest of the game and earned the victory over the Bullfrogs by a score of 8-6.

La Crosse scored the first run of the game after the lead-off batter, Aaron Knapp (California), walked and advanced to third on a Nash Knight (Dallas Baptist) single. Knapp would score on a Ryne Birk (Texas A&M) sacrifice fly to center to give the Loggers the early lead.

The Bullfrogs countered the early La Crosse run with one of their own in the first inning. Matt Beaty (Belmont) started the inning with a single and later scored on a Ryan Howell (Chabot) RBI-groundout to tie the game at one.

However, the Loggers would continue to get to Bullfrogs starter Ethan Rosebeck (Pima CC) in the third, and the Bullfrogs bullpen in the fourth inning. La Crosse started the third inning with back-to-back singles before scoring the two runs on an RBI-groundout and RBI-fielder's choice. Rosebeck exited after the third inning, allowing four runs on four hits while taking the loss for Green Bay.

In the fourth inning, La Crosse scored three more runs to pull ahead 6-1. Knight hit a two-run home run over the left field wall before Mike Nadratowski (Grand Valley State) scored on a fielder's choice.

Green Bay got one run back in the fourth inning when Ryan Koziol (Gulf Coast State) walked to start the inning before advancing to second on a wild pitch, and third on a ground ball. He then scored on an RBI-groundout by new Bullfrog catcher, Daniel Jackson (Long Beach State). Koziol scored once again in the sixth inning on a dropped third strike to make the score 6-2, La Crosse, after five innings.

Koziol ended the night 2-for-4 with two runs scored while reaching base three times for the Bullfrogs.

La Crosse would then knock in two more runs in the top of the seventh inning, both unearned, before the Bullfrogs scored three in their half of the inning. Ivan Vieitez (Lenoir-Rhyne), Matthew de la Rosa (Lenoir-Rhyne), and Paul Jacobson (South Dakota State) all scored on a three-run double down the left field line by Howell to pull the Bullfrogs within two at 8-6. Howell finished the night with four RBI's. He now has fourteen RBI's in just eight games.

Green Bay would then load the bases in both the eighth and ninth innings but couldn't bring home any runs in either inning. Breckin Williams (Missouri) pitched the final two outs in the eighth and all of the ninth inning to pick up the five-out save for La Crosse.

Andrew Cline (Columbia) earned the win for the Loggers, pitching six innings of four-hit baseball while surrendering three runs to Green Bay. Cline also struck out eight in his outing.

The Bullfrogs finished with a 2-2 record on their four-game homestand. Green Bay will now head to Wausau to take on the Wisconsin Woodchucks on Thursday, before returning to Green Bay on Friday to play them again. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
