Madison Mallards News Release

Mequon, Wis. June 11, 2014 - The Madison Mallards (10-5) travel to Mequon today to wrap up their two-game home and home series against the Lakeshore Chinooks (11-4) at 6:35 pm. Mallards pitcher Tom Constand (Western Illinois) will start for Madison and aims to build on his last starting appearance, which came on June 5th against the Kenosha Kingfish, where he tossed 5.1 innings of one run ball, giving up five hits and walking two while striking out four.

He will look to help the Mallards bounce back after last night's game, when the Chinooks defeated Madison 5-1 at the "Duck Pond", dropping the Mallards to one game behind the first place Chinooks in the South Division. The Mallards only run, and only hit, came on a Pete Alonso (Florida) 397 foot home run, his second of the year. The Chinooks received superb pitching from starter G.J. Strauss (Florida Tech), who let up the only run on the Alonso bomb and scoreless relief showings from Garret Brummet (Wichita State) and Shaun Anderson (Florida).

Tonight, Constand will look for his third win against Chinook starter Cam Vieaux, a 6'5", 200-pound freshman out of Michigan State. It will be Vieaux's first appearance for Lakeshore this year. Vieux gave up 22 runs on 66 hits for the Spartans this year, good for a 3.18 ERA. Constand is 2-0 on the year with a 1.74 ERA in 11.1 innings pitched, having given up three runs on 12 hits while striking out seven.

The Mallards will stay on the road tomorrow and travel to Wisconsin Rapids for another two game home and home series, this one against the last place Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (2-13). They return to the "Duck Pond" on Friday, June 13th to play the Rafters at 7:05 pm. Friday night is Charter Communications Office Space Night with an appearance by Richard Riehle, who played Tom Symkowski, the creator of the Jump to Conclusions Mat. Doc Jams will provide old printers and copiers for fans to smash on the field post-game.

Mallards single game tickets are on-sale now. To purchase tickets, log on to MallardsBaseball.com, call 608-246-4277, or stop by the Mallards ticket office.
