Rafters Swept in Doubleheader at Kenosha

Kenosha, Wis- The Rafters misfortunes against the Kingfish continued today at Simmons Field, as they fell to Kenosha twice in the day-night doubleheader. Wisconsin Rapids lost the first game 5-2, and fell in the 2nd game 4-2. With the wins for Kenosha, they moved to 12-5 in the 2nd half, while the Rafters record fell to 7-8 with the two losses today.

In the first game, the Rafters got out to a 2-0 on a pair of solo home runs by Ryan Cleveland (Georgia Southern) and Sam Tolleson (Central Florida). Tolleson and Cleveland both had two-hit games for the Rafters. Adam Hall (Xavier) was perfect through the first 3 innings as he didn't allow a baserunner until the 4th. He ran into the real danger in the 5th after walking the first two men he saw in the fifth. Hall allowed 5 runs in the inning as Kenosha inflicted all of their damage in that five run 5th inning to win the first game. Ryne Blanton (Madison College) collected his 3rd win of the summer, Adam Hall took the loss, and JD. Nielsen (Illinois) collected the save.

Wisconsin Rapids also got out to an early in the second game, as a Brock Carpenter (Seattle) two out RBI double plated Beau Jordan (LSU) for the first run of the ball game. Carpenter had another two out RBI hit in the third that plated Ernie Clement (Virginia). The Kingfish got all the offense they would need in the bottom of the 2nd on a 3 run blast by Brody Westmoreland (San Diego State). The Kingfish added an insurance run in the 6th, to ensure the 4-2 win. 2015 All-star P.J. Schuster (SIU Edwardsville) won his fourth game, Jon Malmin (Texas) took the loss, and E.J. Trapino (Wright State) picked up his 2nd save.
