July 17, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Madison Mallards News Release

Madison, Wis. - Following Thursday evening's postponed contest between the Madison Mallards (9-6, 29-21) and Lakeshore Chinooks (7-11, 24-26), both clubs will participate in a double-header at Warner Park on Friday. Tonight will mark the final home games for the Mallards prior to next week's All-Star break. Game one of the twin-bill, which will be nine innings in length, will resume in the top of the second inning with Lakeshore holding a 2-0 lead. Game two, which will be seven innings in length, will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Gates will open at 4:00 p.m.

After watching Logan Browning (Florida) surrender two earned runs on the mound for the Mallards Thursday night, field manager Donnie Scott and his coaching staff have named Brad Boegel (Murray State) as the starter for the first game of today's double-header. Boegel, a 6-foot-4 right-hander from Kewaskum, Wis., enters tonight's contest with two relief appearances under his belt for Madison in which he has ceded three earned runs, allowed four hits and struck out one. This past spring, he went 2-6 with a 5.44 ERA in collegiate competition, striking out 70 batters across 15 starts (86 IP).

Game two of the twin-bill will see Nate Hoffmann (Middle Tennessee State) tab his eighth start of the 2015 season. Hoffmann, a 6-foot-2 right-handed pitcher from Sun Prairie, Wis., enters the nightcap of today's double-header on the heels of a July 11 outing in which he received a losing decision for allowing two runs home on four hits, one walk and five strikeouts across five innings in a loss to the Battle Creek Bombers. Overall, Hoffmann holds true to a 3-3 record, 5.04 ERA, 22:9 strikeout-to-walk ratio and .244 opponent batting average for the Mallards staff this summer (30.1 IP).

Tonight's game will include The Great Dane Summertime St. Patty's Day at the park, featuring the ZOOperstars presented by Charter Communications. It will also be Bark in the Park Night and Unicycle Night at the Duck Pond. All hospitality food service will begin at 5:30 p.m., as originally scheduled.
