Radue Looks to Lead Bullfrogs to Another Win
July 17, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis.- Tonight's Green Bay Bullfrogs starter Ryan Radue will look to duplicate Sam Brunner's performance from last night in a 1-0 victory over the St. Cloud Rox.
Brunner pitched seven shutout innings and allowed just two hits with eight strikeouts. He earned the win to improve his record to 4-2 and lowered his earned run average to 2.30.
Green Bay manufactured a run in the top of the first inning, and that's all the Bullfrogs needed to beat St. Cloud. Logan Taylor reached on an error to third to lead off the game, and he advanced to second on Robb Paller's groundout. Taylor stole third and scored the unearned run on a sacrifice fly from Danny Rosenbaum.
Brunner was perfect through four innings, but an error and two base hits loaded the bases loaded with nobody out in the fifth. Brunner shut down the next three batters to get out of the jam.
Jake Stolley came into the game to begin the bottom of the eighth and pitched a scoreless inning. With one out and a runner on second in the ninth, Jeremy Graf walked the first batter before a strikeout and fly out to end the game.
The Bullfrogs and Rox made up a suspended game from May 29 prior to the win, and lost 3-2. The game resumed in the bottom of the 13th inning, and Trevor Charpie's RBI double in the top of the 14th gave St. Cloud the victory.
The Bullfrogs improved their overall record to 31-20 and 9-7 in the second half.
Radue will start for Green Bay tonight with a 4-0 record. The Bullfrogs have never lost in any of his seven starts, and his earned run average stands at 3.41 on the season. His last outing came at home on July 10. Radue pitched two innings and allowed three runs on three hits and two walks in a 12-7 victory over Kalamazoo.
Andrew Clemen will make his eighth start for St. Cloud. He picked up the loss in his last start on July 10 against Duluth, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk with two strikeouts in five innings. Clemen has a 1-4 record with a 4.13 earned run average.
First pitch will be at 7:05 from Joe Faber Field.
Green Bay will conclude its seven-game road trip tonight, and the Bullfrogs will return to Joannes Stadium on Saturday for a two-game series with the Kenosha Kingfish before the All-Star break.
