Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.- Following a home stand that saw the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (5-17) play seven games in eight days at historic Witter Field, the Rafters hit the road for games against the Kalamazoo Growlers (9-13), the Battle Creek Bombers (10-12) and will face the Green Bay Bullfrogs (10-12) for the first time this season.

Zach Jackson (Arkansas) will get the start tonight for the Rafters against the Growlers. In Jackson's debut start for Wisconsin Rapids he went six strong innings and struck out 12, nearly tying the Rafters franchise record for strikeouts in a game. Making his fourth start of the season in the second game of the series against Kalamazoo will be Illinois right hander John Kravetz. Despite his 0-3 record, Kravetz has thrown the ball well so far this summer for the Rafters.

Zack Domingues (Long Beach State) continues to be a bright spot in the Rafters lineup. Settling into the leadoff role Domingues is batting .405 on the season with an on-base percentage of .522. Two newcomers to the Rafters lineup are also off to hot starts. Ryan Sluder (Oklahoma State) and Woody Woodward (UC Santa Barbara) are batting .353 and .385 respectively, and have acclimated themselves nicely to the Northwoods League. Sluder has shown a power stroke as well with two doubles, and a home run on the way to a slugging percentage of .697.

All four games against Kalamazoo and Battle Creek will feature first pitch times of 6:05pm locally in Wisconsin Rapids. The Rafters will return home on Monday, June 23 to take on the Green Bay Bullfrogs for Schoep's Ice Cream Superhero Night. All kids dressed in their favorite Superhero costume will get in for free!
