Kingfish Look to Continue Winning Ways against Chinooks
June 18, 2014 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Kenosha Kingfish News Release
The Kenosha Kingfish ended a six game road trip with seven of eight games won. They now sit at a record of 11-9, just two games back in the South Division. Tonight, they return to historic Simmons Field to take on the Lakeshore Chinooks with hopes of closing the gap in the division and continuing their dominant performance.
The Kingfish and Chinooks met not long ago and resulted in the Kingfish sweeping the series 2-0. The series was highlighted by the solid pitching of J.D Nielsen and Rico Garcia. The Kingfish line-up was also on point with several Kingfish recording multiple hits.
On the mound for the Kingfish will be J.D Nielsen. Nielsen is no stranger to the Chinooks and won 4-1 in the last series, allowing only four hits and no runs in seven innings pitched. He will start the game tonight with a 2.84 ERA and use his off-speed pitches for the same results.
Up to bat, the Kingfish have been just as successful. The first four batters, Taylor Douglas, Chris Godinez, Pat Porter and Zach Ratcliff, were active with home runs, hits and RBIs while on the road. Ratcliff is tied for the league for lead in home runs, while Porter has sole possession of first place in the RBI category. The bats have been active at home as well with four Kingfish batting over .300 at Simmons Field.
Tonight's game against the Lakeshore Chinooks features "Halloween in June" presented by Racine Factory of Fear. Fans 12 and under will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat on the field after the game, and all fans are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes. Kids who do so will receive a voucher for a free hot dog and soda. "Smith and Forge Wrestling Night" will be taking place on Thursday the 19th. Among other wrestling-themed promotions throughout the night, a special appearance will be made by WWE Hall of Famer "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan. He will be autographing "two by four" pieces of wood for fans.
