July 15, 2022 - Eastern League (EL)
Reading Fightin Phils News Release

The Reading Fightin Phils were shutout 1-0 by the New Hampshire Fisher Cats despite outhitting their opponent. The pitching staff allowed just six hits and one run on the board, but couldn't drive in one of their own.

Johan Camargo and Jhailyn Ortiz each had three hits apiece as the Fightins connected for nine hits. However, 10 R-Phils baserunners were stranded during the game.

Reading had a player on in each of the first two innings as well as two in the fourth but couldn't bring a run across the plate.

Despite not breaking into the scoring column in the first two innings, the Fightins put on a defensive display. Catcher Jack Conley threw out a runner attempting to steal second base in both the first and second inning.

The Fisher Cats took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning thanks to an RBI double by Cam Eden.

In the eighth inning, the R-Phils loaded the bases with two outs. Camargo and Wendell Rijo both singled while Ortiz walked. However, a strikeout ended the inning.

AJ Graffanino stepped to the plate with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Down to his final strike, the shortstop singled to left field. He was stranded at first base as a groundout ended the game.

Colton Eastman turned in a quality start on the mound but picked up the loss in Friday's game. He went six innings and gave up one run on four hits while tying a season-best four strikeouts.

Trevor Bettencourt pitched two-scoreless innings in relief. He finished with two strikeouts.

Francisco Morales came in for the ninth and set down the side striking out two.

The Fightins will play at FirstEnergy Stadium next on July 16 at 6:45 PM.
