Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Hartford, Conn - Hunter Stovall tallied three hits, including a grand slam, and starting pitcher Noah Davis fired six scoreless innings, as the Hartford Yard Goats beat the Harrisburg Senators 8-2 in front of a sellout crowd Friday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park. Hartford combined for 14 hits for the second consecutive game en route to its third straight win against the Nationals affiliate. Every Yard Goats player had at least one hit, and Stovall is batting .421 on the homestand with two homers and 7 RBI.
Hartford opened the scoring in grand fashion in the bottom of the second inning. Brenton Doyle, Tyler Hill, and Isaac Collins loaded up the bases for Stovall. The Yard Goats shortstop stepped up and cracked a grand slam out to left-center off Harrisburg's starter Ronald Herrera. The homer was Stovall's second straight game with a longball and sixth of the season, putting Hartford in front 4-0.
The Yard Goats continued to pour it on in the fifth, scoring two more runs on five consecutive hits. With two outs and runners on first and second, Doyle lined an RBI single to center, scoring Aaron Schunk. Kyle Datres followed with a single of his own to score Grant Lavigne putting Hartford in front 6-0.
Lavigne blasted a solo home run in the seventh, his second this homestand, adding the seventh run. After Harrisburg got a run back in the top of the eighth, Daniel Montano's sac fly in the bottom of the frame put the Yard Goats up 8-1.
Starting pitcher Noah Davis was dominant on the mound for the Yard Goats. The right-hander spun six innings of shutout ball striking out eight. Will Gaddis entered in relief and pitched two innings, allowing one run. Trent Fennell closed out the Senators in the ninth to seal the win for Hartford.
The Yard Goats continue their homestand against the Nationals affiliate, the Harrisburg Senators, on Saturday night at 6:05. RHP Mitch Kilkenny will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Luis Reyes will start for the Senators. The two squads will face off two more times, concluding on Sunday afternoon.
