Pérez Leads Knights to 9-8 Walk-Off Win Sunday

Charlotte Knights News Release
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Catcher Carlos Perez launched a walk-off home run on Wednesday. On Sunday, it was déjà vu all over again.
Pérez launched a two-run, walk-off home run over the left field fence to propel the Charlotte Knights to a 9-8 win over the Durham Bulls in 12 innings on Sunday night in the finale of the six-game series from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte.
In what proved to be a back-and-forth game from the ninth inning on, it was a wild pitch in the top of the 12th inning which led the Durham Bulls to take an 8-7 lead over the Knights. In the bottom of the 12th, the Knights battled back and set the stage for Pérez, who once again played the hero. With Yolbert Sánchez on second base to start the inning, Blake Rutherford moved him over to third base and the Knights had the tying run just 90 feet away. Then, it was time for Perez to make some magic happen once again.
Pérez roped the first pitch he saw from Durham pitcher Joe Hudson -- the team's catcher -- over the wall for a two-run, game-winning home run and sent the sell-out crowd of 10,212 fans home happy.
Charlotte RHP Rafael Dolis (1-1, 5.87) earned the win out of the Charlotte bullpen despite allowing a run in the top of the 12th inning.
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jiménez continued his major league rehab assignment and launched a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning. The home run was his second on his rehab assignment with the Knights. He finished the game 1-for-3 with the home run and two RBIs.
The Knights will now make the trek to Lawrenceville, GA to open a six-game series against the Gwinnett Stripers. First pitch of game one on Monday night from Coolray Field is set for 7:05 p.m. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com.
