Idaho Steelheads News Release
(Boise, ID) - The ECHL's Idaho Steelheads and St. Luke's Health System have joined forces for the Prostate Cancer Awareness jersey auction during this week's games against the Utah Grizzlies.
The Steelheads will wear special, light-blue themed jerseys that will be sold via silent auction during the contests on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday with all of the proceeds going to benefit St. Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute to help patients in need.
"The Idaho Steelheads have a long-standing relationship with St. Luke's and we're excited to be able to help," Idaho Steelheads President Eric Trapp said. "We take our role as stewards in the community seriously and our fans have been tremendous supporters of these auctions."
Through the years, the Idaho Steelheads have raised more than $300,000 for the community through jersey auctions. One hundred percent of the money goes to the designated charities.
The silent auction will take place behind Section 113 on the Qwest Arena concourse during the games on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Fans will be able to bid on the jerseys being worn by the players with the highest bidder having the opportunity to take the jersey from the player himself following Saturday night's game.
Minimum bids for the Prostate Cancer Awareness jerseys are $200, with bids raising in increments of $100. Bidding closes at the end of the second intermission on Saturday night. Winning bidders not in attendance when the auction ends will be contacted for payment and instructions on how to pick up their unique piece of Idaho Steelheads memorabilia.
Idaho hosts the Utah Grizzlies Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at Qwest Arena as part of St. Luke's Prostrate Cancer Awareness Week with the Steelheads. Tickets are available at the Qwest Arena box office or by calling 208.331.TIXS. Group outings are a great way to get friends, family, co-workers, or colleagues together to enjoy a night out at great savings over walk-up ticket prices.
