Idaho Steelheads News Release
(Boise, ID) - The ECHL league office didn't have to look far for this week's Player of the Week. It's the same one as last week.
For the second straight week, Idaho's Mark Derlago has been named the Sher-wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week. He had eight points (four goals, four assists) over three games to help the Steelheads improve to 32-11-3 on the season. Included was his first hat-trick of the season, netting three goals in Saturday night's 4-2 win at Las Vegas.
The line of Derlago, Tyler Spurgeon, and Mark McCutcheon combined for 23 of Idaho's 28 points in the three-game series against the Wranglers.
Derlago, a 24-year-old native of Brandon, Manitoba, has registered at least one point in each of Idaho's last 12 games. During the streak, he has accumulated 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists) to zoom all the way up to sixth in the ECHL with 52 points.
On behalf of Derlago, Sher-wood hockey will donate another case of pucks to local youth hockey in the Boise area. A runner-up for the award was Utah's AJ Perry, who will be in Boise this week with the Grizzlies to square off against the Steelheads.
Idaho hosts the Utah Grizzlies Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at Qwest Arena as part of Saint Luke's Prostrate Cancer Awareness Week with the Steelheads. The team will be wearing special light-blue jerseys that will be auctioned off to raise money for Saint Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute. Tickets are available at the Qwest Arena box office or by calling 208.331.TIXS. Group outings are a great way to get friends, family, co-workers, or colleagues together to enjoy a night out at great savings over walk-up ticket prices. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
