
Idaho's Derlago Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - For the second consecutive week, Mark Derlago of the Idaho Steelheads is the Sher-wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Feb. 1-7.
The 24 year old extended his point-scoring streak to 12 games when he scored eight points (4g-4a) and had a plus-minus rating of +3 over three games to help Idaho improve to 32-11-3 and remain atop the National Conference standings.
Derlago scored his first hat trick of the season in a 4-2 win against Las Vegas on Feb. 6, including a power-play goal and the game winner. He had three assists in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Wranglers on Feb. 4 and tallied two points (1g-1a) in a 3-2 win over Las Vegas on Feb. 5.
He leads the Steelheads with 52 points and 27 assists and is second in goals (17), power-play goals (9) and is tied for second with four game-winning goals. Derlago has scored 31 points (12g-19a) during his streak, which began on Jan. 8, and has registered three-or-more points in seven of the 12 games. He currently sits sixth in points in the ECHL.
The Brandon, Manitoba native has played in the ECHL in each of his first three professional seasons and has 186 points (92g-94a) and 128 penalty minutes in 152 regular season games with Bakersfield and Idaho. Derlago also has 15 points (8g-7a) and eight penalty minutes in 13 Kelly Cup Playoff games with Bakersfield. He has appeared in 30 American Hockey League games amassing 15 points (7g-8a) and 10 penalty minutes with Manitoba and Providence.
On behalf of Mark Derlago, a case of pucks will be donated to an Idaho youth hockey organization by Sher-wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-wood Hockey has donated more than 23,100 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
