Elmira Jackals News Release

The ECHL announced Tuesday that Elmira Jackals goaltender Julien Ellis has been named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Feb. 1-7.

Ellis was 2-0-0 last week with a 1.00 goals-against average and a.968 save percentage in two starts as the Jackals built a five point lead in the American East Division.

On the road against the Reading Royals on Saturday, Ellis made 29 saves on 31 shots as the Jackals held on for a 3-2 victory.

Ellis helped the Jackals earn their first shutout of the season in a win at Trenton against the Devils on Sunday. The Sorel, Quebec native was unflappable as the Jackals clung to a one-goal lead late in the game. Olivier Proulx added an empty-net goal to clinch the Jackals' 2-0 win, with Ellis stopping all 31 Devils shots. The shutout was the fifth of his career, with Ellis recording four in three seasons with the Victoria Salmon Kings.

Ellis is 11-3-1-0 with a 2.78 goals-against average and a.902 save percentage since making his first start with the Jackals on Dec. 19.

The Jackals are at Wheeling on Friday and Saturday, taking on the Nailers, and host the Trenton Devils on Sunday at First Arena at 4:05 p.m. For tickets, visit the First Arena Box Office, call (607) 734-PUCK (7825) or click here.
