PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The numbers are in from the Prince George Cougars Alumni Million Dollar Hole-in-One Charity Golf Tournament.
This past July, $63,285.36 was raised during the event at the Prince George Golf & Curling Club. To date, the tournament has raised close to $650,000 for healthcare in Northern British Columbia.
"I want to extend a big thank you to the committee members, sponsors and participants for making this golf tournament such a huge success despite significant challenges and hurdles we faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic," said Cougars' Vice President, Business Andy Beesley. "The enthusiasm, dedication and hard work everyone put in was nothing short of inspirational, and from the entire Cougars organization, we are very grateful to have such wonderful people, businesses and organizations to partner with."
For the last six years, fundraising for the tournament has focused on cardiac care. This year, the funds raised from the sold-out event will continue to focus on vital cardiac equipment and care. The event was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"After a disappointing 2020 where we were unable to hold the annual Prince George Cougars Alumni Hospital Charity Golf Tournament, this year's event was a tremendous success," said Judy Neiser, CEO for the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. "We want to thank our title sponsor, Northland Dodge, and all those who attended the tournament."
This year's tournament wouldn't be possible without the support of our alumni, tournament sponsors, volunteers, staff members and participants. The Cougars' organization would like to thank title sponsor Northland Dodge.
