Saginaw Spirit News Release
Saginaw, Mich. - The Saginaw Spirit (14-20-1-0) host the Midwest Division-leading London Knights (21-10-1-0) Friday night at The Dow Event Center in Saginaw, Michigan in a game that was originally scheduled for Jan. 13, 2022. This is the first of six scheduled meetings this season between the Spirit and Knights.
Head-to-Head
This is the first matchup between the Spirit and the Knights since the league cancelled the remainder of the 2019-20 season and the entire 2020-21 season. The last engagement between these two teams at The Dow came back on Jan. 11, 2020, a 6-5 victory for the Spirit. With the two teams splitting their four-game season series during the 2019-20 season, London remains the only team in the OHL that the Spirit have not won a regular season series against in their franchise history.
Last Time Out
Saginaw: The Spirit were unable to capitalize on a gem of a goaltending performance from New York Islanders prospect Tristan Lennox, and fell to the Soo Greyhounds Wednesday night by a 5-1 score. Lennox made a season-high 36 saves for the Spirit. Sebastien Gervais scored in third period, extending his points streak to a season-long, three games.
London: London dropped the back end of a home-and-home series with Midwest Division rival Guelph on Sunday afternoon by a 3-2 score. The Knights hold a two point lead in the division of the surging Storm. Easton Cowan and Brody Crane scored for the Knights, while goaltender Brett Brochu turned in a 41 save performance in the defeat.
