Barber Poles End Road Trip in North Bay
January 28, 2022 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Ottawa 67's News Release
The Ottawa 67's cap off their three game stint on the road, with a Sunday matchup against the North Bay Battalion. Puck drop is set for 2:00 pm EST, and Barber Poles fans can watch live on CHLTV. Kenny Walls has the radio call on 580 CFRA.
It's been a good start for 2022 for the 67's, who won three of their first five games to begin the new year. Luca Pinelli, Alex Johnston, and Jack Matier have powered the team, offensively, but it's also been a month - and really, a season - of firsts. Will Gerrior scored his first OHL goal, and Max Donoso notched his first career win, against the Sudbury Wolves on January 15.
The Battalion, meanwhile, entered the weekend with a 3-5 record in the month of January, but they remain a vaunted threat, still occupying the third place position in the Eastern Conference.
It hasn't been long since the 67's battled with North Bay, the most recent coming on December 31, 2021. Brady Stonehouse scored two, for his first career multi-goal game, with Gavin Ewles and Thomas Sirman each tallying their first OHL goals, and Vsevolod Gaidamak put a bow on the contest, for a 5-1 Ottawa victory on the road. Will Cranley was brilliant in goal, turning aside 20 of 21 shots.
This will be the fifth of six meetings between the Barber Poles and Battalion during the 2021-22 campaign, and with the season series currently knotted up at two games apiece, once can be certain that Sunday's game will be a hard-fought matchup, with playoff implications getting greater and greater entering the stretch run of the season.
