Preview: Spirit and Wolves Tussle Friday Night

SAGINAW, MI - On Friday night, the Saginaw Spirit (20-27-3-3 46 points, 8th Western Conference) take on the Sudbury Wolves (14-33-3-1 32 points, 10th Eastern Conference) at the Sudbury Community Centre in Sudbury, Ontario. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m.

The Spirit are coming off of a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the North Bay Battalion last night at the Memorial Gardens. Saginaw's tally was put up by 2015 Tampa Bay Lightning Draft Pick Mitchell Stephens for his 11th goal of the season. Goaltender Evan Cormier made 32 saves for the Spirit in his return to North Bay.

The Sudbury Wolves are coming off back-to-back wins for only the second time this season, downing the Flint Firebirds on February 5th in overtime and the Saginaw Spirit 6-3 last Saturday, February 6th. The Wolves are led by Rookies Alan Lyszczarczyk (37pts), Dmitry Sokolov (33pts), and 2015 first overall pick of the OHL Priority Selection Draft, David Levin (20pts). Sudbury has also gotten substantial contributions from overage forwards Mikkel Aagaard and Danny Desrochers. 6'9 240 pound Jarett Meyer was acquired from the Owen Sound Attack to add some size to the Wolves rearguards than include Arizona Coyotes pick Kyle Capabianco and overager Patrick Murphy.

Head-to-Head:

The Spirit and Wolves have met once this season, with Sudbury coming out on top February 6th by a score of 6-3. Six Wolves players had multi-point efforts and goaltender Troy Timpano made 38 saves in the game. (Highlights) (Box Score)
