Tonight...
The top two bantam draft picks from 2016 and two top prospects for the 2019 NHL draft go head to head as Kirby Dach and the Saskatoon Blades welcome Peyton Krebs and the Kootenay ICE. It's the final meeting in a 4-game season series with the Kootenay ICE; the final game ever against the franchise known as the Kootenay ICE. The Blades will look to respond after seeing their 7-game win streak come to an end last night in Brandon. Saskatoon has only lost back-to-back in regulation once this season, back on Sept. 30th and Oct. 2nd . Meanwhile the ICE will try and rekindle the effort from November 1st when they beat the Blades 4-2 at SaskTel Centre.
Clinching scenario...
The Blades "magic number" to clinch is 3 points... Any points gained by the Blades or potential points lost by Brandon or Red Deer count towards that number of 3. Brandon is in Prince Albert tonight; Red Deer hosts Edmonton.
The last game...
Ryan Hughes (24) and Max Gerlach (37) both scored power play goals in a 6-2 loss last night in Brandon... Dawson Davidson added 2 assists. Nolan Maier allowed 5 goals on 22 shots and was tagged with the loss in 40 minutes of work. Dorrin Luding stopped 5/6 shots in the 3rd period.
Kootenay was in Prince Albert last night where they were shutout 4-0 by the Raiders.
Head to head...
Saskatoon leads the season series 2-1, outscoring the ICE 12-8. The Blades' power play is 4/9 in the series, the PK is 10/11. The scoring is spread throughout the Blades' lineup, but Kyle Crnkovic's 4-point game last weekend leads the way... Peyton Krebs leads the ICE with 4 points in the series as well.
Who's hot...
Max Gerlach has 10 goals in his last 10 games, Kirby Dach has 4G-5A spread over 5 of his last 6 games, Ryan Hughes has 4 goals in his last 4 games.
