Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
CHARLESTON, WV (July 21, 2005) - The West Virginia Power, Class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, have announced the opportunity for lucky fans to win, via auction, several items at Appalachian Power Park during Friday night's game.
Friday night at Appalachian Power Park will serve as host of "Irish and Polish Night", Ford Friday Night Fireworks presented by 107.3 WKAZ and now a silent auction. The Power will be auctioning off several items of signed memorabilia during Friday night's game against the Lakewood BlueClaws at Appalachian Power Park, with all of the proceeds going towards the travel expenses of the nine and ten year old Mountaineer Little League All Star Team.
Some of the items will include autographed baseballs, autographed game used bats by West Virginia Power players, and perhaps the most unique of all the items up for grabs, an autographed piece of the City of Charleston Police cruiser which crashed into the left field fence at Appalachian Power Park on the morning of July 17th.
Power General Manager Andy Milovich is very excited about the event. "This is a tremendous opportunity for us to raise money for the nine and ten year old Mountaineer Little League All Star Team, of which we are very proud." Milovich said. "Autographed bats and balls are always hot items to auction off, and the uniqueness of the remnants of the police cruiser should draw a lot of attention to help us cover the travel expenses of the All Stars."
The West Virginia Power will continue a five game series with the Lakewood BlueClaws at Appalachian Power Park tonight. The Power will celebrate Buck Night, presented by V100 and WCHS/FOX 11, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM.
