I's take advantage of River Dog errors in 10-1 blowout

Kannapolis, NC - The Intimidators scored six runs on six hits in the third inning on their way to a 10-1 blow out in game one of a four game series with the River Dogs Thursday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. Kannapolis finished the night with twelve hits and took advantage of three Charleston errors to score seven unearned runs - a season high for the River Dogs. The victory vaults the I's to 16-9 in the second half, first place in the South by 3.5 games.

Lucas Harrell took the victory with six innings allowing just four hits and one run. Harrell picked up his first victory since June 16th and moved to 5-7 on the year. Elvys Quezada took the loss in a spot start falling to 0-1.

Sean Smith came around to score the first Intimidators run after doubling in the first. He stole second and came home on a Josh Hansen RBI ground out. Smith was 2-4 with three runs and an RBI. Hansen tied Ryan McCarthy for the longest hit streak of the season smacking a single in the third for the 15th game in a row. Boomer Berry and Donny Lucy each extended double digit hitting streaks. Berry went 2-3 with a run and an RBI. His streak is now 12 games. Lucy was 2-5 with a three run homer in the sixth extending his streak to 13 games.

The Intimidators host Charleston again Friday night at 7:05 pm. Carlos Torres will get his first start for the Intimidators against LHP Phil Coke (5-5 4.80). Friday night is Cash Giveaway night with the I's. The first 1,000 fans through the door will receive an envelope with cash. The grand prize winner will receive $500.
