Lexington Legends News Release
Legends Win 7-2
Two out base hits have been a problem for Lexington this season but not on Thursday night. Beau Torbert tripled in Drew Sutton with two away and Frankie Caraballo and Bryan Triplett each delivered two-out run scoring singles in a three run third inning.
Lexington went on to defeat Delmarva 7-2 to pull within five games of the first place Shorebirds. Lexington's record stands at 14-12 and to 56-40 overall heading into Friday's game.
Evan Englebrook picked up his seventh win with six strong innings. Englebrook allowed just one run on a solo homer by Eric Grimm in the sixth inning. Delmarva added a second run in the seventh on a solo shot by Andrew Moffitt off Paul Estrada.
Lexington jumped out to a three nothing lead with the three, second inning runs. The Legends added a run in the fourth on Caraballo's second run scoring single. Ole Sheldon singled in Edwin Maysonet in the fifth inning to make it 5-0.
Sheldon and J.R. Towles each belted solo homers to left field in the eighth inning to end the scoring.
Torbert and Towles each extended hit streaks. Torbert reached sixteen straight games matching a franchise record. Towles has hits in eleven straight games.
Lexington will host Delmarva on Friday as part of Cincinnati Bengals night. Eighteen lucky fans will pick up an authentic Boomer Esiason Bengals jersey. Game time is set for 7:05. The Progressive Direct pre-game show will kick off Legends network coverage beginning at 6:50.
