
Power Sweeps Legends

(Lexington, KY)- The West Virginia Power knocked off the Lexington Legends 12-4 Wednesday at Whitaker Bank Park on Wednesday. The Power led 5-1 after three and added seven in the eighth to complete a series sweep against the Legends.
The Power loaded the bases in the first inning on a double, a walk and a hit batter. Carlos Munoz singled in Logan Ratledge for a 1-0 lead. Tyler Filliben was hit by a pitch to bring home Mitchell Tolman to put West Virginia up 2-0.
After Lexington scored once off Mitch Keller in the bottom of the first on a walk and a double, the Power scored two runs in the second to extend their lead. Tolman singled in Alfredo Reyes and Munoz singled in Tolman to give the Power a 4-1 edge. West Virginia scored once in the third on a Ratledge double and a Tolman triple.
Lexington cut the lead to 5-2 in the fourth when Anderson Miller scored on a wild pitch and added a run of a sac fly in the sixth.
In the eighth, West Virginia scored seven runs on three hits, five walks, two wild pitches and a passed ball. The Legends added a run on a ground out in the bottom of the ninth.
Keller (5-4) pitched five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Cesilio Pimentel pitched two innings, allowing one run, for his second hold of the year. Julio Pinto (1-3) surrendered four runs on three hits over an inning and a third before leaving with an injury and took the loss.
Seven of nine players had at least one hit for West Virginia and five had at least two. Eight of nine Power players scored at least once with Ratledge and Tolman scoring three times each.
West Virginia returns to Appalachian Power Park on Thursday to begin a four-game series against the Charleston RiverDogs. Dario Agrazal will face Luis Cedeno at 7:05 P.M. as the Power begin their final homestand of the first half.
