Greenville, SC - For the second time this homestand, the Greenville Drive overcame a big deficit after the first half inning and defeated the Hickory Crawdads 9-8 on a wild Tuesday night at Fluor Field.

After falling behind 6-0 in the top of the first against Augusta on Sunday and winning, a similar story unfolded for the Drive (34-30) on Tuesday, albeit with more twists and turns. The Crawdads (37-27) scored five times on six hits against Dedgar Jimenez in the first.

The Drive answered back in the bottom half with a two-run homer from Mitchell Gunsolus, and after a pair of walks, rain delayed the game for an hour and five minutes. After play resumed, a Crawdads error and a Derek Miller sacrifice fly brought the Drive to within 5-4.

Hickory scored single runs in the second and third thanks to a Drive error and a homer by Jose Almonte, but the Drive cut the score to within one once again in the third after a two-run double to left by Trenton Kemp.

Another solo homer, this one by Dylan Moore, extended the Crawdads lead to 8-6 in the fifth inning. The Drive countered in the next half-inning when Kemp hit another double and was singled home by Luis Alejandro Basabe.

In the bottom of the seventh, Greenville went ahead for good against Joe Palumbo (5-4) when Tyler Spoon's infield single tied the game and Luis Alexander Basabe drew a bases-loaded walk.

On a night where pitching struggled, Jeffry Fernandez (2-2) was a bright spot. He earned the win for the Drive after allowing just three hits and one run in four innings. Victor Diaz earned his second save by firing two scoreless innings to close out the game.

Alejandro Basabe went 3-4 with a pair of runs to lead the Greenville offense, while Kemp went 2-5 with two RBI.

The Drive will send left-hander Logan Boyd (6-4, 5.40) to the mound on Wednesday night at 7:05 as they go for a sweep of the three-game series. Right-hander Dillon Tate (2-2, 5.35) starts on the hill for the Crawdads.
