ASHEVILLE, N.C. - West Virginia had no answer for Alfredo Garcia, who tossed seven strong innings, while the Asheville offense pummeled the Power for the second straight night, claiming a 16-1 win Saturday evening at McCormick Field.

Asheville (24-31) struck first in the third inning against Damon Casetta-Stubbs (2-4). After ceding just two hits through the first two frames, Casetta-Stubbs served up a leadoff double to Kyle Datres and hit Will Golsan with a pitch. Following a Coco Montes sacrifice bunt, Willie MacIver brought in Datres with an RBI groundout before Danny Edgeworth singled in Golsan for a 2-0 lead.

West Virginia (27-28) answered back in the fourth, as the first four batters reached against Garcia (1-4), snapping a streak of nine straight batters retired by the Tourists' left-hander. J.R. Davis ignited the inning with a single, and Keegan McGovern followed with a base knock of his own. After Garcia walked Onil Pena to load the bases with nobody out, Bobby Honeyman laced a single to right that plated Davis to cut the deficit in half.

Honeyman extended his hitting streak to seven games with his fourth-inning knock. The Stony Brook product has hit safely in 16 of his last 18 games, sporting a .324 (22-for-68) clip in that stretch.

However, Asheville's offense exploded in the middle innings, as they posted a three-spot in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, along with a five-spot in the eighth, to take a commanding 16-1 lead. The Tourists pushed their three runs across in the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Grant Lavigne, an RBI double by Daniel Montano and a run-scoring single from Johnny Cresto.

Asheville then leaned on the long ball over the final three innings, as Edgeworth stroked a pair of two-run homers in the sixth and eighth, while Montes and Datres also went deep in the eighth inning off Elias Espino. The Tourists tallied 19 hits overall, the most the Power has allowed in a single game this season.

West Virginia wraps up its four-game series against the Asheville Tourists at McCormick Field Sunday afternoon, with first pitch set for 2:05 p.m. LHP Steven Moyers (3-4, 5.37 ERA) takes the mound for the Power, while the Tourists send righty Ryan Feltner (3-4, 5.06 ERA) to the slab. Pregame coverage begins at 1:45 p.m. on The Jock 1300 and 1340 AM, as well as online at wvpower.com and via the TuneIn Radio App and MiLB First Pitch App.

After their seven-game road swing through North Carolina, the Power returns home for their final first-half homestand from June 6-12 against the Greenville Drive and the Delmarva Shorebirds. The home stretch includes a Rock 105 Two for Tuesday and Thirsty Thursday, a postgame fireworks show, courtesy of the West Virginia Lottery and Suddenlink, a Kidz Sunday Funday presented by the Shawnee Park Foundation, a Family Buck Day and a Pets in the Park Night. The two highlights of the homestand begin Thursday, June 6, as West Virginia hosts Power of Pride Night, sponsored by Rainbow Pride of West Virginia and Dow Inc., where the first 500 fans can receive a special pennant giveaway. Meanwhile, the club will celebrate 15 Years of the Power, presented by Appalachian Power, Saturday, June 8, with a special player canvas giveaway available for the first 1,000 fans through the gates.
