
Power shut out the Suns

Hagerstown, MD - The West Virginia Power won their third ballgame in a row and their fourth game of their six game road trip with a 2-0 victory over the Hagerstown Suns on Saturday night at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, Maryland. Yovani Gallardo, Derek DeCarlo and Robert Hinton combined for the six hit shutout, marking the fifth Power shutout of the season.
Hasan Rasheed drove in the first run of the game on a two out, RBI single, which scored Alcides Escobar and gave the Power a 1-0 lead. Josh Murray knocked in the final run of the game in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI double, driving in Carlos Corporan to make it 2-0 Power. The Hagerstown Suns had the tying run on first base in the bottom of the ninth inning when Ryan Coultas grounded out to Alcides Escobar to end the game.
Yovani Gallardo (4-3) pitched six scoreless innings to earn the victory, Robert Hinton (8) earned the save and Tim Worthington (2-2) obtained the loss. The Power are 11-11 in the second half after the win and the Suns move to 8-14 with the loss.
The Power will continue the four game series with the Hagerstown Suns at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, Maryland on Sunday afternoon. The Power will throw right-handed pitcher Mark Rogers (1-6, 4.63) and the Suns will counter with right-handed pitcher Brandon Nall (0-0, 0.00). The first pitch is scheduled for 5:35 PM.
