
Captains Fall 3-2 at Delmarva

(Salisbury, MD)--Delmarva designated hitter Jason Fransz homered and delivered an RBI single Saturday night as the Shorebirds edged the Captains 3-2 at Perdue Stadium.
The Captains (10-12) have lost five of the last six games and fell to six games behind the division-leading Shorebirds (16-6).
Fransz belted a solo homer off Captains starter Reid Santos (4-6) in the second inning to tie the score 1-1. It was the 10th homer of the year for Fransz, and his fifth against Captains pitching.
Paco Figueroa registered an RBI single off Santos in the fifth to give the Shorebirds the lead, and Fransz added a run-scoring single in the sixth for his second RBI.
Lake County left the bases loaded in the second and third innings against Kevin Hart (6-6). hart scattered six hits in six innings to earn his second win against the Captains this year.
The Captains rallied for a run in the ninth when Wyatt Toregas walked against Trent Baysinger. Toregas advanced to second on Chad Longworth's single and then scored on a wild pitch and error on the catcher Matt Houston. Longworth went to third on the play, but was stranded when Baysinger struck out Trevor Crowe and reliever Casey Cahill came on to fan Brian Finegan to end the game.
The Captains and Shorebirds will play game two of the series on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 (WELW AM 1330).
