Hagerstown Suns News Release

A stellar start by Tim Worthington went to waste Saturday night as the Suns were shutdown by the West Virginia Power pitching staff, 2-0.

The 24-year-old righthander for the Suns went 6 innings and gave up just 3 hits and 1 run while striking out 6. However it was not enough as Yovani Gallardo (4-3) led a pitching buzzsaw that mowed down the Suns and dealt them their second straight loss. Gallardo gave up just 3 hits but didn't let anybody score and teammates Derek DeCarlo and Robert Hinton combined to finish the shutout bid, pitching a combined three innings. The Suns had their best chance in the 7th inning when Jesus Flores led off with a rocket to left field, but Josh Murray made a running catch at the wall to the dissapointment of over 2,000 fans that came to cheer on the Suns. Murray's catch was outdone only by centerfielder Hasan Rasheed's catch of a rainbow liner by Jim Burt in the next at-bat. Rasheed sprinted to the gap in left center before going airborne and robbing Burt of a single. Ryan Coultas then flied out to end the inning.

The Suns will take on the Power again tomorrow afternoon at 5:35. The first 1,000 fans at the game will receive Willie Mays bobblehead dolls presented by Antrim Way Honda. Stop by or call the Suns' offices at 301-791-6266 for tickets.
