Charleston Dirty Birds News Release

(Charleston, WV) The West Virginia Power edged the Asheville Tourists 2-1 on Friday at McCormick Field. Maximo Rivera delivered an RBI single in the tenth to give the Power the victory.

West Virginia grabbed the early advantage with a JaCoby Jones triple, followed by an error on a throw from center scoring Jones for the lead in the first.

Cody Dickson and Antonio Senzatela were locked in a pitcher's duel as no runs were allowed by either from that point on. In the eighth, Asheville finally broke through on a solo blast from Ryan McMahon to tie the game.

The Power, however, would start the tenth inning with a JaCoby Jones double and then Maximo Rivera came through with an RBI single to win the game.

Brett McKinney (4-3) earned the win while Matt Carasiti (6-2) took the loss. JaCoby Jones tallied his third four-hit performance of the season in the game and was a home run shy of the cycle.

West Virginia visits the Asheville Tourists on Saturday, August 9, at McCormick Field. Buddy Borden will take the hill against the Tourists Konner Wade. The Power return home on Monday, August 11, at Appalachian Power Park to battle the August GreenJackets. For tickets or more information, call 304-344-BATS or visit www.wvpower.com.
