Asheville Tourists News Release

Asheville, NC--Offense was at a premium on Friday night as the West Virginia Power defeated the Asheville Tourists 2-1 in ten innings. Six of the eight meetings between Asheville and West Virginia have been decided by just one run.

In a classic pitcher's duel between Asheville's Antonio Senzatela and West Virginia's Cody Dickson, both starters pitched a great game. Senzatela lasted five innings and was only touched up in the top of the first. Jacoby Jones tripled off the centerfield wall and raced home to score on an errant throw back to the infield.

Dickson held the Tourists off the scoreboard all together. He kept Asheville off balance for six innings and recorded seven strikeouts.

Trailing 1-0 for a majority of the game, the home team finally leveled the score in the bottom of the eighth. Ryan McMahon took a Clario Perez pay-off pitch over the centerfield wall knotting the score 1-1.

In the top of the tenth, Jones struck again for the Power. His lead-off double immediately put the pressure on and two batters later the visitors were back in front. Maximo Rivera lined a single into right field to plate the go-ahead run.

In the bottom of the tenth, Emerson Jimenez reached on an infield single to lead-off the inning; but was thrown out trying to take second on an overthrow at first base. The next two hitters were retired in order. With the win, the Power evened up this series at one game apiece Jones finished 4-for-5 while the only Tourists player with a multi-hit output was Jose Briceno, who went 2-for-3. Both starters took home a no-decision therefore Senzatela remains 13-1 on the season.
