PREVIEW: The Shorebirds got a much-needed win in extra innings on Thursday night. Drew Dosch hooked an RBI double down the right field line for the go-ahead run in the 12th inning, as Delmarva topped Lakewood 5-3. The BlueClaws scored three runs early before Mitch Horacek settled down, and four relievers helped shut down Lakewood late.

TODAY'S OPPONENT: Yacksel Rios will start game one of a doubleheader on Friday evening. Rios has been very impressive this season, going 5-0 with a 3.33 ERA. Rios made the switch to starting in mid-June, and he has gone 4-0 since. The right-hander has already started three times against Delmarva, going 2-0 with seven runs allowed in 17 innings. The Puerto Rican native was a 12th round draft pick of the Philadelphia Phillies in 2011.

19TH SEASON: The 2014 season marks the 19th season of Shorebirds baseball on the Eastern Shore and 18th straight year as a Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The Shorebirds' first season was 1996 as a Montreal Expos farm team.

ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles won the series finale with the Toronto Blue Jays, 2-1 on Thursday night. The O's took the rubber match thanks to another home run by Caleb Joseph, his fourth straight game with a home run. Baltimore is five games clear of both Toronto and New York in the AL East with 65-49 record heading into a weekend interleague series with St. Louis.

THE IRON IS HOT: 18 out of the 25 players on the Shorebirds active roster appeared for the Ab- erdeen IronBirds in 2013. The IronBirds put together an impressive season, making the playoffs for the first time in their 12-year franchise history. Aberdeen won the McNamara Division in the New York-Penn League with a 40-32 record. The IronBirds lost in the first round of the NYPL play- offs, losing 2 games to 0 against the Tri-City Valley Cats.

Gonzalez finally had his scoreless streak snapped on Tuesday evening vs. the Greensboro Grasshoppers. In the third inning, Gonzalez surrendered a two-out bases-clearing double to Brian Anderson. The lefty starter had pitched 23 consecutive innings without allowing a run over nearly a month from July 9th to August 5th.

WHO'S HOT - ALEX SANTANA

The Shorebirds' reliever pitched 2 scoreless innings vs. Greensboro on Monday. Santana has now struck out 30 batters in 22 innings pitched. In ten straight appearances, Santana has struck out at least two batters.

WHO ELSE - GREGORY LORENZO

The Shorebirds outfielder swiped two bags on Thursday night, now 36 steals on the season. With 40 steals with Delmarva in 2013, and 6 in 2012, Lorenzo is the franchise record holder with 82 career stolen bases.
