POWER REPLAY: West Virginia beat Hagerstown 14-2 on Monday night in the series opener. The Power plated five in the first and three in the second to back starter Zack Dodson with more than enough run support. The southpaw pitched six innings of four hit, one run ball for his sixth win of the season. Jose Osuna and Willy Garcia hit late home runs to add to the offensive outburst. Osuna, Gregory Polanco, and Francisco Diaz had three hit apiece, while Garcia and Dan Gamache chipped in two hits each.

FIRST THINGS FIRST: West Virginia's win last night helped the club pull into a tie for first place in the Northern Division's second half standings. The Power, Suns, and Hickory Crawdads all occupy first place with identical 21-17 records. Today marks only the fourth day this year that West Virginia has been in first place this season. The club was also tied for first over the course of the first three days of the South Atlantic League's second half.

HOME RUN KING: Jose Osuna has hit nine home runs this month to set a new franchise record. The infielder matched Mat Gamel (May 2006), Stephen Chapman (July 2007), and Matt LaPorta (August 2007) for the club record of home runs in a single month with a home run at Greensboro on July 26. Osuna hit a 1-1 offering from Greg Holt over the left field wall in the sixth inning last night to set the new record. Osuna is batting .340 in July and has driven in 24 runs.

SUNS SHOWDOWN: West Virginia and Hagerstown continue their four game series tonight at Appalachian Power Park. The Power trail in the all-time series 55-51, but are 26-19 against the Suns at home since the start of the 2005 campaign and 3-2 in Charleston this season.

SCORE FOUR: Jose Osuna scored four times in Monday night's win, becoming the second player this month to score four runs in a single game. Ashley Ponce touched home four time in the Power's 15-10 win at Delmarva on July first. Ponce was the first West Virginia player to score four runs in a single game since Tony Sanchez accomplished the feat on August 10, 2009 at Hickory.

STILL GOING: Francisco Diaz has a six-game hitting streak intact heading into his next game, while Jose Osuna has hit safety in nine in a row. Eric Avila extended his hitting streak to 11 consecutive games with a 1-3 performance last night. This is the second longest streak of Avila's career (21 straight during June of 2009 with the DSL Pirates)

WINNING WARRIORS: Friday night's victory at Lakewood guaranteed that West Virginia would have a winning record on a road trip for just the second time all season. The Power finished their seven game swing with a 5-2 record. West Virginia's only other winning trip this season was its most recent: a 5-3 mark during an eight-game jaunt through Georgia from July 10-17. The Power won a league-low seven road games in the first half of the season and have a league-best 14 road wins in the second half so far with 11 road contests left.

PROMO CHECK- AUGUST 2 & 3: The Power will hold two BIG 12 promotional night's during the next homestand. August 2 is NFL Night featuring an appearance by the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, while August 3 is WVU night featuring appearances by West Virginia University legends including Pat White.

POWER POINTS: The Power are now 16-12 this month with two games left in July. The club had not had an even or winning record in any month so far this season until now.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh fell 14-4 at Chicago last night... Indianapolis bested Buffalo 6-2... Altoona did not play... Bradenton lost 1-0 at Lakeland in ten innings. Jameson Tallion pitched seven shutout innings for the Marauders... State College dropped a 2-1 final at Lowell.

ON THE AIR: All 140 West Virginia Power games can be heard on ESPN 104.5 FM and 1490 AM in Charleston, WV, across the state on the Power Radio Network, and online at milb.com. Adam Marco will call the action for each of the 70 home games this season, while the home team will provide coverage while the Power are on the road.
