
Intimidators Slow Down 'Dads with Win on Tuesday

HICKORY, NC - The Kannapolis Intimidators topped the Hickory Crawdads, 6-1, before 681 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Crawdads (21-18, 57-51) took the lead with a run in the bottom of the second inning against RHP Chris Devenski (W, 6-5). RF Zach Cone belted Hickory into the 1-0 lead, starting the stanza with a towering solo home run.
The Intimidators (14-23, 47-60) quickly erased the deficit with a run of their own in the top of the third against RHP Nick Martinez (L, 5-6). After leading off with a double down the left field line, 1B Leighton Pangilinan advanced to third on a single by DH Joe De Pinto. Pangilinan then scored on an RBI single by 2B Joey DeMichele, tying the score, 1-1.
Kannapolis took its first lead of the game with three runs in the top of the fifth inning. With two outs, DeMichele pulled a solo home run over the right-field wall. After SS Chris Curley was hit by a pitch, RF Mark Haddow shot a two-run homer over the center-field wall, putting the Intimidators up, 4-1.
The Intimidators increased their lead with two runs in the top of the sixth inning against RHP Paul Schwendel. 3B Grant Buckner led off with a walk and De Pinto picked up a single one out later, putting two runners on. After a CF Adam Heisler single loaded the bases, Buckner and De Pinto raced home on a two-run double by DeMichele, shooting the Intimidators ahead, 6-1.
Schwendel logged a 1-2-3 seventh inning for Hickory, before RHP Jose Monegro tossed two scoreless frames through the eighth and ninth. However, after seven one-run innings by Devenski, Kannapolis RHP Dustin Umberger closed the 6-1 Kannapolis win with two scoreless innings.

Hickory hosts Kannapolis on Wednesday at 7 p.m . It's Unemployment Night, presented by Manpower. All fans that present an NCESC-issued debit card recieve four free grandstand tickets to the game. Wednesday is also Kids Run the Show Night. Gates open at 6 p.m.
