Asheville Tourists News Release

Game Two between the Asheville Tourists and the Lexington Legends was a game of momentum swings and the Legends were left celebrating in the rain when it was all said and done.

Lexington jumped out to a 2-0 lead with back-to-back Home Runs in the second inning from Matt Duffy and Brandon Meredith. Asheville took the momentum in the third as they rallied for a pair of runs off Mike Foltynewicz. Harold Riggins connected with an RBI single and Sam Mende came home on a wild pitch.

The Legends answered right back with three in the fourth. Duffy doubled home Zach Johnson and then scored on Nolan Fontana's single off the right field wall. Later in the inning, Fontana came home on a sac-fly off the bat of Jordan Scott.

Delino DeShields Jr. led off the fifth with a Home Run; making it 6-2 Legends. In the seventh, Lexington plated two more on Johnson's double down the third-base line.

Asheville made it a game in the bottom of the seventh. With runners at second and third, Mende singled in a run to make it 8-3. Riggins then belted a three-run Homer to centerfield and the Tourists trailed by just two.

In the ninth, the rain started coming down and the Legends were able to plate an insurance run. Asheville put a few runners aboard in the bottom of the ninth, but Dayan Diaz was able to strike out Jordan Ribera to end the game.

Foltynewicz became the first 12-game winner in the South Atlantic League by going five innings, surrendering two runs, and striking out eight.
