Trailing 5-0 in the fifth, West Virginia plated three runs, keyed by a triple from Alen Hanson that brought home a pair. Zac Fuesser pitched five and two-thirds of relief for the Power, but West Virginia couldn't break through for any more offense against Yeiper Castillo or three Greenville relievers.

POYTRESS PROMOTED: The Pittsburgh Pirates promoted Josh Poytress to the Bradenton Marauders onThursday. The right-hander has appeared in four games with West Virginia this season, going 2-0 with a 0.72 ERA over 11.1 innings pitched. Poytress has already pitched for Bradenton this season, compiling a 2-0 record with a 0.00 ERA in six games after an April 19 promotion.

COOPER OUT: Jordan Cooper was sent to Extended Spring Training earlier today. The right-hander was 1-3 with one save and an 8.38 ERA over 14 appearances.

RIGHT-HANDED RELIEF: Pittsburgh added two arms to the Power roster earlier today. Clario Perez and Robby Rowland were sent to West Virginia's roster from extended spring. Perez was signed as a non-drafted free agent from in 2009 and has not pitched above the Dominican Summer League during his professional career. Rowland was acquired by Pittsburgh on March 31, 2012, in exchange for Brett Lorin (a Rule Five draft choice in 2011 that the Diamondbacks wanted to keep despite a lack of roster space). Rowland was a third round draft choice in 2010 out of Cloverdale High School in California and has not pitched above the Pioneer League.

DIME PIECE: Gregory Polanco extended his hitting streak to ten straight with a second inning single last night. The Power outfielder is batting .341 during this streak with 14 hits in 41 at bats with two home runs and four runs batted in. It is the longest current streak by any player on the roster and has surpassed Dan Gamache's late April to early May streak as the second longest this season by a Power player. Alen Hanson's 16-game April streak still remains as the longest in the league so far this season.

DRIVE TIME: West Virginia and Greenville meet for their second series this season after having not played each other since early 2010. West Virginia swept a four game series at Appalachian Power Park during the Power's opening homestand of the season in April. The Power are 9-12 since 2005 at Fluor Field.
