ASHEVILLE, NC - The Asheville Tourists edged the Hickory Crawdads, 6-2, before 3,323 fans at Historic McCormick Field on Friday night.

The 'Dads (19-18) got out to a quick lead against LHP Tyler Anderson (W, 2-0) in the top of the second inning. LF Chris Grayson started the charge with a double off the top of the right-center field wall. After he moved to third on a wild pitch, C Kellin Deglan came through with an RBI sacrifice fly to center to make it 1-0.

The Tourists (24-15) responded right away in the bottom of the second against LHP Victor Payano (L, 3-2). A one-out double by LF David Kandilas was followed by a ground out from C Ryan Casteel, putting a runner at third with two down. 2B Jose Rivera struck with a two-out, RBI single, bringing in Kandilas and tying it, 1-1.

Hickory moved back in front immediately in the top of the third inning. With one away, SS Luis Sardinas singled his way on, before moving to second on a sacrifice bunt by 2B Rougned Odor. Sardinas then took off for third with a stolen base, drawing an errant throw from Casteel in the process, which enabled Sardinas to score for the 2-1 lead.

Asheville, though, had another answer in the bottom of the third inning. With one on and one down, DH Sam Mende belted the Tourists into the 3-2 lead with a two-run homer.

Asheville then padded the lead with a run in the seventh and two tallies in the eighth against the 'Dads bullpen. With runners at first and second in the seventh, Rivera broke for third for a stolen base and C Kellin Deglan misfired the throw to left field, allowing Rivera to score on the play. An RBI single by RF Jared Simon and an RBI grounder by Rivera in the eighth stretched the lead further, accounting for the eventual final score of 6-2 in the Asheville win.
