GREENSBORO, N.C. - A three-run 6th inning pushed the Grasshoppers ahead of the BlueClaws for good in a 3-2 Greensboro victory Friday night.

Greensboro improved their record to 30-10 on the season with a 20-2 mark at home that includes 16 consecutive victories, while Lakewood drops to 14-25 overall and and 5-16 away from FirstEnergy Park.

BlueClaws starting pitcher Ethan Stewart recorded the first out of the 6th inning before allowing the next three batters to reach base on a single and two walks. The bases were loaded with one out when Gabriel Arias entered and promptly allowed all three inherited runners to score on back-to-back base hits. Arias has allowed six of the eight baserunners he has inherited to score-including twice allowing all three runners to score when he entered an inning in relief of Stewart with the bases loaded.

Gauntlett Eldemire was 1-for-4 and singled home Kyrell Hudson and Stephen Malcolm in the 3rd inning for a 2-0 BlueCLaws lead. However, those would be the only two runs Lakewood score in the ballgame and Lakewood was unable to plate a run trailing by one in the later innings.

The BlueClaws and Grasshoppers will battle Saturday night at NewBridge Bank Park in Game 3 of the four-game series. Colin Kleven (2-3, 3.58) will start for Lakewood against Greensboro's Jose Urena (3-1, 3.46). First pitch for Saturday's game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
